In 2013 the hospitals of Helsingør, Hillerød and Frederikssund merged and became part of
Nordsjællands Hospital. Nordsjællands Hospital therefore comprises the three units:
Nordsjællands Hospital – Hillerød, Nordsjællands Hospital – Frederikssund and Nordsjællands Hospital – Sundhedshuset Helsingør.

The hospital in Helsingør has an emergency department and provides out-patient care in cardiology, rheumatology, endocrinology and lung diseases.

Helsingør is the largest town in the Nordsjælland region and has more than 46.800 inhabitants. It is situated at the narrowest part of Øresund and regarded as the door to the rest of Scandinavia.
