The DRK Klinikum in Berlin Mitte was the first of four hospitals under the authority of the DRK sisterhood Berlin . The hospital consists of eight specialised departments and six centres. Four hundred members of staff care for about 35,000 patients a year.
The hospital is associated with the Charité -University medicine Berlin and acts as a teaching hospital (Akademisches Lehrkrankenhaus) that will accept German students during their practical year (Praktisches Jahr).
The Newsmagazin Focus has it on its hospital ranking list for 2017 as one of the top regional hospitals in Berlin and also as a top national hospital for lung cancer treatment.
