The Evangelical Elisabeth hospital which was founded in 1837 is the second oldest hospital in Berlin. Three hundred members of staff care for about 7,600 in-patients and more than 16,000 out-patients per year.

The hospital focuses on its breast cancer and reconstruction, laser medicine, inner medicine, chronic wounds, diabetes, back and joint departments along with the sports medicine and sports injuries department.

The hospital is associated with the Charité -University medicine Berlin and acts as a teaching hospital (Akademisches Lehrkrankenhaus) that will accept German students during their practical year (Praktisches Jahr).
