The Waldkrankenhaus in Spandau is an evangelical hospital and part of the Paul Gerhardt Diakonie. It is one of the biggest non-governmental hospitals in Berlin and treats around 21,000 patients each year. In addition to that it treats and cares for another 40,000 out-patients.
The Waldkrankenhaus focuses on injuries and conditions of the musculoskeletal system, oncology, vascular medicine, geriatrics and internal medicine. Its children’s hospital has won the „Ausgezeichnet für Kinder“ quality award.

It also specialises in orthopaedics especially children’s and youth’s orthopaedics. Its cancer department is the only one in Berlin (next to the Charité) which was quality awarded by all professional societies.

The hospital is associated with the Charité – University Medicine Berlin and acts as a teaching hospital (Akademisches Lehrkrankenhaus) that will accept German students during their practical year (Praktisches Jahr). Places are available in the surgery, internal medicine, anaesthetics, gynaecology, orthopedic, paediatrics and radiology departments.
