The Auguste-Viktoria-Klinikum belongs to the the Vivantes group of hospitals in the west of Berlin. It is named after its founder, the last empress of Germany and Queen of Prussia – Auguste Viktoria. The hospital has 12 specialised units and 639 beds. Each year it treats 46,000 patients of which 23,000 are in-patients. More than 1,000 babies are born in its birth clinic every year. More than 190 doctors and 430 nurses and care staff are employed by the hospital.
The hospital is associated with the Charité – University Medicine Berlin and acts as a teaching hospital (Akademisches Lehrkrankenhaus) that will accept German students during their practical year (Praktisches Jahr). Placements are available in surgery, internal medicine, anaesthetics, gynaecology, neurology, psychology, radiology and urology.
