The children’s hospital Hochried in Murnau am Staffelsee, south of Munich, was founded in 1954 as a recovery centre for children. Today it is a specialised hospital for the medical rehabilitation of children and adolescents. Each year the 4,000 members of staff of the catholic youth welfare organisation, Katholische Jugendfürsorge, will treat and care for 75,000 children, adolescents and their families.
The hospital is associated with the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) and acts as a teaching hospital (Akademisches Lehrkrankenhaus) that will accept German students during their practical year (Praktisches Jahr). Places are available in paediatrics.
