The hospital in Ingolstadt is the largest health centre in the region and the fourth largest in Bavaria. It has 1,112 beds over 20 specialised units and 55 wards two of which are intensive care wards with 12 beds each.
It employs 3,000 members of staff of which 79% are women. Each year it treats more then 100,000 patients in its wards and as out-patients and 2,500m babies are born here.

The hospital is associated with the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) and acts as a teaching hospital (Akademisches Lehrkrankenhaus) that will accept German students during their practical year (Praktisches Jahr). Places are available in a number of departments.

Ingolstadt is a city in the Free State of Bavaria, in the Federal Republic of Germany. It is located along the banks of the River Danube, in the centre of Bavaria. Ingolstadt has around 131,000 citizens. It is part of the Munich Metropolitan Area, which has a total population of more than 5 million.
