The Schön Klinik Roseneck was the first hospital of what is now a group of hospitals and treatment centre in 23 locations in Germany and Great Britain. The group employs around 10,000 members of staff and treats 300,000 patients each year. Thirty-five of its doctors are on the newsmagazine Focus Gesundheit’s list of top national doctors in their 2017 ranking of best doctors in Germany.
It all started when the founders of the group, a couple of property developers, needed to diversify in the beginning of the 1980 and decided to build a hospital in Prien am Chiemsee. When it opened in 1985 Schön Klinik Roseneck was the first psychosomatic hospital in Germany to specialise in eating disorders. Since then the group has grown and now also focuses on neurology, orthopaedics, surgery and internal medicine along with psychosomatics.
The hospital has an affiliation with the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) and acts as a teaching hospital (Akademisches Lehrkrankenhaus) that will accept German students during their practical year (Praktisches Jahr). Places are available in psychiatry, and psychosomatic medicine and psychotherapy.
The hospital is housed in buildings on the shores of lake Chiemsee in the most beautiful surroundings at the foothills of the alps.
