The Städtisches Klinikum München Group (Munich Municipal Hospital Group) is the largest of its kind in Munich and surroundings and the second largest of its kind in Germany. Over the five hospitals in Bogenhausen, Harlaching, Neuperlach, Schwabing and Thalkirchner Straße the group employs 7,000 members of staff and has 140,000 in-patient and another 100,000 out-patient visits each year. The group has 3,300 beds and is the largest emergency care provider in the region – 40% of all emergency care cases are treated here. The hospitals have a number of international patients, interpreter services are available for a multitude of languages

The hospital in Harlaching is on of the largest in Munich and is located in green surroundings at the outskirts of Munich. It treats 32,000 patients each year and sees 2,000 births in its birth clinic. The news magazine Focus ranks it as one of the best 20 clinics and one of the top 100 in the 2017 ranking of German hospitals. The hospital has an affiliation with the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) and acts as a teaching hospital (Akademisches Lehrkrankenhaus) that will accept German students during their practical year (Praktisches Jahr). Places are available in internal medicine, surgery, anaesthetics, gynaecology and obstetrics, paediatrics, neurology, neurology, pathology and urology.
