The Rechbergklinik in Bretter belongs to the Regionale Kliniken Holding RKH group of ten hospitals. The hospital consists of four specialised units and one institute. Together these units care for 7,400 in- and 14,500 out-patients each year. With 445 members of staff, the Rechbergklinik is one of the large employers in the Baden Württemberg region. Building work is underway for a new 120 bed hospital to be finished in the summer of 2018. The new modern clinic will contain a central area for diagnostics and history taking, a surgical unit, an intensive monitoring and -therapy unit, additional comfortable wards, a ward for palliativ care and a new café.

The hospital has an affiliation with the Ruprecht-Karls-University in Heidelberg and acts as a teaching hospital (Akademisches Lehrkrankenhaus) that will accept German students during their practical year (Praktisches Jahr). Places are available in Internal medicine, surgery and anaesthetics.
