The Kliniken Schmieder group of six hospitals are leading in the fields of neurology and neurological rehabilitation. The group employs 2,000 members of staff in the Baden-Württemberg region of Germany and treats around 13,000 patients every year. The hospital in Heidelberg, which opened its doors in 2001, is the newest member of the group. It was extended in 2011 and has now 230 beds and around 350 members of staff that care for around 2,000 patients each year.
The hospital has an affiliation with the Ruprecht-Karls-University in Heidelberg and acts as a teaching hospital (Akademisches Lehrkrankenhaus) that will accept German students during their practical year (Praktisches Jahr). Places are available in neurology.
