The Neckar-Odenwald-Kliniken group consists of two hospitals, one in Buchen and one in Mosbach, a centre for geriatric rehabilitation and two other health centres. The hospital in Mosbach is a district general hospital that provides the inhabitants of the region with hospital facilities. The hospital has an affiliation with the Ruprecht-Karls-University in Heidelberg and acts as a teaching hospital (Akademisches Lehrkrankenhaus) that will accept German students during their practical year (Praktisches Jahr). Places are available in internal medicine, surgery, anaesthetics and gynaecology.
Mosbach has a population of around 25,000 and is the capital of the Neckar-Odenwald district in the north of Baden-Württemberg, about 58 km east of Heidelberg. The picturesque small town is characterised by its traditional half-timbered houses and surround by forested hills, just south of the Odenwald region.
