The GRN-Klinik Schwetzingen belongs to the GRN Gesundheitszentren Rhein-Neckar group of hospitals. Between the opening of its doors in 1974 and the year 2010 it has treated and cared for around 350,000 in-patients. Today the 700 members of staff care for 12,000 patients in its wards and another 16,000 emergency cases and conduct another 1,500 planed out-patient surgeries each year. In addition to this nearly 700 babies are born here in the same time period. The hospital has an affiliation with the Ruprecht-Karls-University in Heidelberg and acts as a teaching hospital (Akademisches Lehrkrankenhaus) that will accept German students during their practical year (Praktisches Jahr). Places are available in internal medicine, surgery, anaesthetics and gynaecology.

Schwetzingen has a population of more than 22,000, the town is well known for its beautiful castle and castle gardens and the classical music festival that is held in the castle gardens each year.
