The BG Unfallklinik (Trauma Centre) in Frankfurt is part of a wider network of hospitals in Germany. Since 1962 the hospital has been providing trauma treatment, care and rehabilitation for the closer region and beyond. Its 11 specialised units and several special outpatient clinics are treating around 10,000 in-patients and another 72,000 out-patients each year. The emergency unit is one of the biggest in the whole Hesse region with more than 5,000 emergency doctor deployments per year.
The newsmagazine Focus names it as one of the top hospitals in the Hesse area and one of the top 100 specialised hospitals in Germany in its 2018 ranking of German hospitals. It is most of all for their trauma surgery and orthopaedic surgery departments that the BG Unfallklinik has received such a high placement in the ranking.
The hospital also has an affiliation with the Goethe University in Frankfurt/Main and acts as a teaching hospital (Akademisches Lehrkrankenhaus) that will accept German students during their practical year (Praktisches Jahr). Places are available in surgery, orthopaedics, plastic surgery and anaesthetics.
