Hospital description

Founded in 1779 by Johann Christian Senckenberg as the first hospital for the citizens of Frankfurt, the Bürger¬hospital (Citizens hospital)today combines highly qualified medical treatments with professional humane care and modern medical technology. In 2009 the hospital merged with Clementine Children’s hospital, thereby enlarging its offer in the areas of paediatrics and youth medicine. The Bürgerhospital has 15 specialised unites, 1000 members of staff and treats 20,000 in- and another 45,000 out-patients every year. In its 2018 ranking of German hospitals, the newsmagazine Focus, named Bürgerspital as one of the top hospitals in the Hesse regions and as an outstanding hospital for high-risk births.

The hospital also has an affiliation with the Goethe University in Frankfurt/Main and acts as a teaching hospital (Akademisches Lehrkrankenhaus) that will accept German students during their practical year (Praktisches Jahr). Bürgerhospital Frankfurt was awarded the "MFT-Zert-Gütesiegel " a quality mark regarding the quality of practical year education (http://www.mft-zert.de/).
