It is a general district hospital providing specialised care in internal medicine, surgery, neurology, urology and geriatrics. The hospital in also provides emergency care for the region and acts as a teaching hospital (Akademisches Lehrkrankenhaus) that will accept German students during their practical year (Praktisches Jahr) through its affiliation with the Goethe University in Frankfurt/Main.
