The Catholic Sankt Katharinen hospital opened its doors in 1960, it was founded by the Sankt Katharinen sisters who had settled in Frankfurt after 1945. It is a general district hospital providing specialised care in internal medicine, surgery, neurology, urology and geriatrics. The hospital in also provides emergency care for the region and acts as a teaching hospital (Akademisches Lehrkrankenhaus) that will accept German students during their practical year (Praktisches Jahr) through its affiliation with the Goethe University in Frankfurt/Main. Places are available in surgery, internal medicine, anaesthetics, geriatrics, neurology and urology.
