The hospital group St. Antonius and St. Josef is a charitable organisation run by the catholic foundation of the “Cellitinnen zur Heiligen Maria” and has existed since 2009. Today it maintains 1,700 beds in seven locations and employs around 3,000 members of staff. These are the hospitals of the group: Petrus-Krankenhaus, Krankenhaus St. Josef, St. Anna-Klinik, MVZ Medi-Wtal and Klinik für Geriatrische Rehabilitation. It also has a runs a regional therapy centre and an academy for health professions.

The hospitals have an affiliation with the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf and act as a teaching hospitals (Akademische Lehrkrankenhäuser) that will accept German students during their practical year (Praktisches Jahr). Places are available in Anaesthetics, ENT and orthopaedics.

Wuppertal is a city in the centre of the North Rhine Westphalia region of Germany, with Cologne and Dusseldorf airports nearby. It is famous for its suspension monorail, the Pina Bausch Dance Company, its zoo, the Von der Heydt-Museum and the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy, EnergyAgency.NRW. It has around 350.000 inhabitants and is the economic and cultural centre of the Bergische Land.
