The Stadtkrankenhaus Korbach is a general district hospital. Each year around 10,000 in- and another 16,500 out-patients receive their treatment here. The hospital has an affiliation with the Georg-August-Universität in Göttingen and acts as a teaching hospital (Akademisches Lehrkrankenhaus) that will accept German students during their practical year (Praktisches Jahr). Places are available in surgery, internal medicine, orthopaedics and anaesthetics. The Stadtkrankenhaus Korbach was one of the first hospitals to receive the
MFT-Gütesiegel (seal of quality) for the education it provides during the German practical year.

Korbach, officially the Hanseatic City of Korbach (Hansestadt Korbach), is over a thousand years old and is located on the German Timber-Frame Road. It has around 25,000 inhabitants and is situated in a region in the north of Hesse that is known for its natural beauty and its offering of outdoor leisure activities.
