The Clementine children’s hospital is a specialised hospital for children and young people. It was founded as a hospital for poor children in 1845, it has been in its current location since 1954. Today it employs 200 members of staff in eight specialised departments and treats around 3,200 in- and 23,000 out-patients per year.
The Bürgerhospital and the Clementine Kinderhospital in Frankfurt am Main along with the St. Bernward Krankenhaus in Hildesheim were the first academic teaching hospitals (Akademische Lehrkrankenhäuser) to receive the MFT-Gütesiegel, a quality mark regarding the quality of practical year education (http://www.mft-zert.de/).
