The Klinikum Weser-Egge is run by the catholic hospital group Weser-Egge. It works in four locations: Höxter, Bad Driburg, Brakel and Steinheim.The four locations have 859 beds between them, 25 specialised clinics and 1,400 members of staff. Each year the group treats around 30,000 in- and more than 50,000 out-patients.
The St. Rochus hospital in Steinheim specialises in internal medicine and geriatrics. Found in 1858, it moved location a few times. The current hospital was build in the early seventies.
The Klinikum Weser-Egge has an affiliation with the Georg-August-Universität in Göttingen and acts as a teaching hospital (Akademisches Lehrkrankenhaus) that will accept German students during their practical year (Praktisches Jahr). Places are available in internal medicine, general, viszeral- and vascular surgery, anaesthetics, gynaecology and obstetrics and orthopaedics/trauma surgery.
