The Klinikum Lippe is one of the largest municipal hospitals in Germany. It has 30 clinics in three locations and nearly all specialisations are represented. The 2,800 members of staff treat and care for 43,000 in- and more than 100,000 out-patients each year. The main locations are in Detmold and Lemgo, while the hospital in Bad Salzuflen is home to the paediatric and youth psychiatry unit.
The hospital has also an affiliation with the Georg-August-Universität in Göttingen and acts as a teaching hospital (Akademisches Lehrkrankenhaus) that will accept German students during their practical year (Praktisches Jahr). Places are available in surgery, internal medicine, anaesthetics, dermatology, neurology, paediatrics and urology.
Lippe is a district (Kreis) in the east of North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany. The town of Detmold is its administrative centre.
