Klinikum Eichsfeld works in three locations: The St. Vincenz hospital in Heiligenstadt, the St. Elisabeth hospital in Worbis and the hospital in Reifenstein. Together the three hospitals have 341 beds and are the main healthcare provider in the Eichsfeld district in Thuringia. The hospitals employ 1,200 members of staff, who treat and care for around 18,000 in- and another 25,000 out-patients each year. The catholic St. Vincenz hospital in Heiligenstadt was founded in 1845 and joined the group in 2002, one year after its creation.
Eichsfeld Klinikum has an affiliation with the Georg-August-Universität in Göttingen and acts as a teaching hospital (Akademisches Lehrkrankenhaus) that will accept German students during their practical year (Praktisches Jahr). Places are available in internal medicine, surgery, anaesthetics, orthopaedics, gynaecology and paediatrics.
