District General Hospital | Leinefelde-Worbis, Germany

Hospital description

Klinikum Eichsfeld works in three locations: The St. Vincenz hospital in Heiligenstadt, the St. Elisabeth hospital in Worbis and the former district hospital in Reifenstein. Together the hospitals have 341 beds and are the main healthcare provider in the Eichsfeld district in Thuringia. The hospitals employ 1,200 members of staff, who treat and care for around 18,000 in- and another 25,000 out-patients each year.

The St. Elisabeth Worbis hospital was founded in 1881. In 2001 it merged with the district hospital (Kreiskrankenhaus) in Reifenstein to form the Eichsfeld Klinikum. The St. Vincenz hospital joined them a year later.

Eichsfeld Klinikum has an affiliation with the Georg-August-Universität in Göttingen and acts as a teaching hospital (Akademisches Lehrkrankenhaus) that will accept German students during their practical year (Praktisches Jahr). Places are available in internal medicine, surgery, anaesthetics, orthopaedics, gynaecology and paediatrics.
