The Albert-Schweitzer hospital in Northeim belongs to the HELIOS group of hospitals, which is one of the largest healthcare providers in Europe. Since 2014 the group manages 110 hospitals and clinics in Germany.
Opened in 1955, the hospital employs today 550 members of staff. Each year 18,800 out-patients visit the hospital and the staff treats and cares for another 14,500 in-patients.

Northeim is a town with around 29,000 inhabitants to the north of Göttingen. It is part of the Half-Timbered House Road and characterised by its many historical buildings.
