The Schildautal hospital in Seesen is part of the Asklepios group of hospitals with more than 100 hospitals and other facilities in Germany. It is one of the three largest in hospital providers in the country. The hospital is a centre for conditions of the nervous and vascular systems. It also houses clinics for neuro surgery, vascular surgery, general and trauma surgery, internal medicine and intensive care and a centre for radiology. More than 1,100 members of staff work here.
The hospital also has an affiliation with the Georg-August-Universität in Göttingen and acts as a teaching hospital (Akademisches Lehrkrankenhaus) that will accept German students during their practical year (Praktisches Jahr). Places are available in neurology, neuro surgery, general surgery and internal medicine.
Seesen is a town in Lower Saxony. It is situated on the northwestern edge of the Harz mountain range, approximately 20 km west of Goslar. It has a population of more than 20,000 inhabitants.
