Introducing the Gino Strada Bursary

More and more students are going on electives again – whether national or international – so we have come up with a new and exciting format for this bursary.

Award

Bursaries of £500 each are awarded and can be used at the students’ discretion towards the cost of their electives.

To Apply

Students will be asked to create a video 3 minutes in length (± 10 seconds) on the topic of their elective. There are no limitations on the theme for the video; students can for example use it to showcase their elective experience, discuss elective-related questions, or give advice to students planning and going on their elective in the future.

You must not use any copyrighted music, sound effects, or images in your video. The copyright of the materials submitted for this competition remains with respective participants; however, by entering you grant TEN and its partners the right to use the submitted materials, in original or altered versions, for an unlimited amount of time to be uploaded to any social media channels (YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, etc.) or used in other capacities, crediting you as the copyright owner.

Winners will be chosen in two rounds:
The first grant will be awarded based on popularity (number of ‘likes’ of video). The second grant will be awarded by the TEN Advisory Board to the video of their choice from the remaining pool of videos.

Eligibility

This award is open to any student aged 18 years or older who holds a valid TEN account at the time of application) and is actively studying towards an accredited qualification in medicine, nursing, or midwifery. The competition is open to nationals from any country studying in any country worldwide. Students must be within 12 months of their elective at the time the competition closes.  

Those students shortlisted for the award will be asked to provide proof of study before the final judgement is made.  

Applications can be made at any time. The entries will be assessed after the closing date and the successful applicants will be informed within 4 weeks with the payment following shortly afterwards.

Terms and Conditions
1- The competition is hosted by: The Electives Network Ltd. (hereafter referred to as “TEN”) (company no.04214403)] whose registered office is at

2- The competition is open to anyone 18 years of age who is actively studying towards an accredited qualification in medicine,
3- There is no entry fee for this competition. Entrants must hold a valid TEN account registered in their name at the moment of application.
4- By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating their agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.
5- Route to entry for the competition and details of how to enter are via https://app.electives.net/terms
6- Only one entry will be accepted per person. Multiple entries from the same person will be disqualified.
7- Closing date for entry will be 1st of October 2022. After this date the no further entries to the competition will be permitted.
8- No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason.

10- TEN reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition and these terms and conditions without notice in the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, act of God or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other event outside of the organisation’s control. Any changes to the competition will be notified to entrants as soon as possible by TEN.
11- TEN is not responsible for inaccurate prize details supplied to any entrant by any third party connected with this competition.
12- The prize is as follows: Two grants of £500 each. Students can only be awarded one of the two prizes.The prizes are not transferable.  
13- Winners will be chosen in two rounds: first, as a result of a popular vote conducted via YouTube (amount of video ‘likes’) as measured and recorded and verified by TEN and or its agents. Second, by a panel of judges consisting of the TEN advisory board.
14- The winners will be notified by email within 28 days of the closing date. The winner will only ever be contacted by [email protected]. If the winners cannot be contacted or do not claim the prize within 14 days of notification, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize from the winner(s) and pick a replacement winner(s). 
15- TEN’s decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
16- The competition and these terms and conditions will be governed by English law and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England.
17- The winners agree to the use of their names and material in any publicity material, as well as their entry. Any personal data relating to the winners or any other entrants will be used solely in accordance with current UK data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the entrant’s prior consent.

You are providing your information to TEN and not to any other party.
